I wanted to wish all of you a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving this year. Personally, I am going to make this one great because I remember last year’s all too well. It fell one day after my chemo treatment so I spent it in bed and sick. This year I am helping my mom with the Turkey dinner. :) I bake and make homemade cranberry sauce! I ihope all of you are able to enjoy the day in some part. If you’re posting here, then let’s be grateful for the fact that we are here to see another Thanksgiving!
Enjoy and don’t overstuff yourselves! (no pun intended) hahahaha

Today is my 30th Birthday. Some might be upset at waving another decade good-bye. I think cancer survivors have the real advantage of viewing a birthday as something to be celebrated! I rememeber how I spent my 29th last year although I wish I couldn’t. That was for sure the worst birthday of my life. I had chemo the day before and spent my bday in bed, crying hysterically and sick as a dog. I remember people calling me but I was too sick and too emotional to speak. NOT this year – boy what a difference a year makes. I feel great – still in remission as far as I know (next scan in December) and I am happy, married and living life the way it should be lived. I can thank cancer for at least this one thing – I will never look at another birthday as getting older – rather it serves as a reminder of how far I have come and how far I have yet to go. Birthdays are great – the alternative isn’t! Live each day and enjoy it. My love to all. Keep fighting the fight!
XOXO,
Lauren
Hi Lauren and congrats! I know what you mean about horrible birthdays, my birthday this year I spent in surgery, yep, had surgery on my birthday so talk about horrible. The worst part is I didn’t even get to celebrate the day before because I had to empty out my colon for the surgery, so no food the day before either. I am planning on living it up my next birthday in March!
I agree with you that cancer has also changed my outlook on birthdays, each one will be a blessing that I made it another year.
